how to re-install Quicken Classic on Windows 11
After I couldn't download Chase transactions into Quicken Classic, I followed the instructions to uninstall Quicken on January 26, 2026. Then attempted to re-install. It failed. Of note is that I'm in Costa Rica, and didn't realize that it's problematic to install in other countries, which I assume is correct after I found something posted about that issue somewhere else? At any rate using a VPN was suggested. I turned on my VPN and still cannot re-install. I tried manually deleting the installation folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken) and still cannot re-install. In fact on Quicken.com I can't get into my account—and error message pops up. So I'm completely locked out. Can anyone help?

Quicken is not supported where you are - see this article.
Barring any legal issues, know that not all VPNs are created equal which might explain why the VPN is not working for you - maybe. One approach is to do an online research on selecting the best VPN for your specific needs, learn their specific settings for your purpose, and how to ensure and verify that you are truly connected to a US server. Even then it may or may not work for a variety of reasons. Maybe the "Region" setting of your Win11 - I don't know if that plays a role.

Thanks, BK. I'm returning to the US in a few weeks. Once I turned off my VPN I was able to get back here to see your response. Thought I'd get ahead on tax filing while traveling (stupid) and had no idea couldn't re-install from abroad. I'm hoping I have no problem once I return.

@bwpsycho , your comment suggests that your VPN is not connected to a US server! Don't know how familiar you are with VPNs but they have very specific options for the purpose of connecting to a country specific server. And then you need to verify it. So either your VPN is not properly setup or has limited capabilities. I use VPNs frequently and discovered that only a few of the best ones work successfully overseas. Regards.
