why can't I bulk recategorize investment transactions?

It seems like I used to be able to do this at some point, but it isn't possible.

I run multiple investment accounts (via interactive brokers, but there are others), in which I get all sorts of miscexp and miscinc items for various things - market data fees, futures cash adjustments, etc. All of these come in with no category. I know what category I want them to be. I used to be able to easily go in once a month and do a bulk select / recategorize from a report, I think. But that ability disappeared a while ago. I've been ignoring it until now because it was small dollars, but now with large futures positions, it's Damn Annoying.

I can't just remove the accounts from my income/expense reports because sometimes I do actual normal transactions in those accounts too.

Why is this not possible, or is there another work around?

    I feel your pain. The option to find and edit in Bulk disappeared a long time ago for investments. Why? I don't know.

    The only way that I know to accomplish what you are asking is make individual changes within the account. What I have done to speed up the process in the past, is to select the investment account that I want to make changes. I then click on the "Find" icon on the upper right area of the account screen. I then choose the criteria for the search by choosing a field like Category/Tag and then _Misc Expense (or whatever you are wanting to edit) and then click Find all. This isolates only the items you desire to change. You can then click on each individual transaction and make the changes you want.

    I'm sorry but I have been unable to find any other way than this. I would welcome anyone's response that knows of another way.
