Issue: Stuck Legacy FID / Branding on Bank of America Account
I am on Windows 11 Enterprise on a Dell PC. I am using Quicken Classic Premier, version R66.23 Build 24.1.66.23
Problem Summary: Because BOA recently eliminated the Web Connect option, I am transitioning my Bank of America accounts from Web Connect to the new Express Web Connect+ method. However, my main Checking account is "locked" to a legacy branding (Bank of America-All other states).
Technical Roadblocks:
- Metadata Lock: In "Edit Account Details > General," the Financial Institution field is greyed out and uneditable.
- Field Reversion: When I manually delete the Account Number, Routing Number, and Customer ID and click 'OK,' the fields automatically repopulate when the window is reopened.
- No Deactivate Button: Because it is set to Web Connect, there is no "Deactivate" button in the Online Services tab to sever the link.
- Linking Failure: During the "Add Account" process for the new BofA connection, this account does not appear in the "Link to existing account" dropdown because it is still "claimed" by the legacy branding.
CRITICAL DATA REQUIREMENT: I have over 15 years of transaction history and extensive transfers to other accounts in this file. I cannot delete the account or move transactions to a "dummy" account, as this will break historical transfer links.
Request: I need assistance in stripping the hidden Financial Institution ID (FID) or "Connection branding" from this specific account so I can successfully link it to the new Express Web Connect+ connection without losing my 15-year + transfer history.

This issue of missing Deactivate button has been reported on this community many times in the past few months due to BofA's change. I suggest that you search and review the posts and the suggested approaches.
One common approach I have seen suggested my the moderators is to do a file copy: File > Copy or Backup File > Create a copy or template
The reason this seems to work is that it creates a copy of your data file with ALL accounts disconnected/deactivated - which in turn it should also deactivate the one without the deactivate button. Additionally it allows you to delete fields data that you mentioned in #2. Then you reconnect your accounts one at a time.
Please post back and let us know if this helps.
ADDING: Do your #2 field clearing for all of your BofA accounts before reconnecting them, in order to allow you to use the new BID.

Thanks, I will give that a try! This is my first time on the Quicken Community (even through I have been a Quicken user since the stone age). I didn't think about/know how to go about searching the community for answers. I will post again after I attempt this solution to communicate the results. Thanks again for taking the time to help.
