  Yes, you can either have it in your current data file or create a 2nd data file if it is something you need completely separate

  Unless you are using Premier or higher you will not see it. It is not available for Deluxe or Starter. Quicken has admitted that the documentation is lacking and that it will be updated at some point.

  The Portfolio Value report shows the ticker symbol. You can also customize the portfolio tab views to show the ticker rather than security name by going to (at the upper right) Options > Customize…

  It should be mutual fund. The market index is only for the actual index. And yes, Large cap stocks is probably what you want.
