downloaded share transactions do not automatically get updated in portfolio

Product Version: Quicken for Mac 2017 Version 4.8.3 (Build 48.20030.100)
I download stock transactions from my brokerage (like TD Ameritrade or Fidelity). Example: Buy Apple 10 shares. But it does not update the portfolio to show this increased share amount. As a workaround, I then manually enter in a Buy of Apple 1 share and then subsequently delete that dummy transaction. In doing so, the brokerage transaction of 10 shares of Apple will appear correctly in the portfolio summary.
Although this workaround seems to consistently work, it is a pain to (1) realize that the transaction did not "update" the portfolio and (2) then do this little workaround to force the "update".
