Issue with entering a transaction
wwciv
Trying to enter a brokerage account transaction for 12/31/18. I get the following message: "You are attempting to record a transaction on the same date as a Placeholder Transaction. Your share balance will not be affected." But there are no Placeholder Transactions in this account. In another brokerage account I entered a transaction for 12/31/18 without getting this message. Solution??

Go to Edit > Preferences > Investment Transactions and make sure that "show hidden transactions" is checked, then see if the placeholder is visible in the account:

Thanks. Yes there were hidden placeholder transactions. Not sure how they got there.

Placeholder transactions can be created when, after transaction download, Quicken detects discrepancies in broker - reported holdings vs. holdings in your Quicken data file.
You should be getting warning messages when Quicken is about to create a placeholder. In that case you should take immediate action to correct the situation and record the appropriate missing Buy / Sell / etc. transaction.
Click that little blue "i" button for more details.
