Quicken 2017 will not let me enter a sale of stock, it changes it to short sales and I bought the shares.

    Well - the stock being sold has to have an equal or more amount of shares -
    So.... how many shares is Quicken showing you have in the account vs how many shares are you attempting to sell ?
