From C. D. Bales:
To cause Quicken to open the same file every time you start Quicken:
- Right-click the desktop shortcut you use to start Quicken
- Select "Properties"
- In the "Target" field, you should see the full path and name of your Quicken program (qw.exe). Suffix a space after the program name, then, following that space, key the full path and name of your Quicken file in quotes (example: "C:\QData\MyQdata.QDF"
- Click OK
Alternatively, you can create a shortcut to the Quicken .QDF file you want Quicken to open at start.

You don't have to change the Desktop start icon for Quicken to go a specific file. Quicken always remembers the last file it used and will open that automatically, next time you start Quicken.By default, your Quicken data files are (should be) located in your \Documents\Quicken folder. When you start Quicken for the first time, it should prompt you what to do. The most likely course of action would be to restore your Quicken data file from the most recent backup taken before the crash. You do have backups stored on an external disk drive or on a cloud server (Dropbox, Microsoft One Drive, etc.), don't you?0
