I want to make a new itemized category report for an existing checking account, beginning 1/1/19, and which includes category balances from 12/31/18. Is this possible, and if so, how?

There is a Quicken Standard Report called "Spending by Category". Reports>Reports and Graphs Center>Spending by Category.Have you had a look at that? You can customize the report by adjusting dates, totals by time period, and accounts to include, et al. See image. Does this help you get started?
