I am having problems with start up. Home screen comes up but I then get an unexpected error message?
The error message stated that there was a improper shut down. We did have a power outage. Could this cause this repeated error message every time I start up.
Any suggestions

An unexpected power outage in the middle of a Quicken session can cause damage, not only to your Quicken data file, but also to other files on your hard drive. Please run a thorough CHKDSK (disk error check) at your earliest convenience.
I also recommend you buy an uninterruptible power supply aka UPS aka battery stand-by system and hook it up to your desktop computer. Having lived in the thunderstorm - prone State of Georgia in the past, a UPS has saved my bacon and my PC many times.
To repair your damaged Quicken data file please do this after CHKDSK has completed:Quicken crashes, hangs or loops at startup?
Please try this:
Reboot Windows.
Close Quicken.
Use Windows File Explorer to locate and rename your current Quicken data file, for example, from Qdata.QDF to QdataX.QDF
Usually this file is located in your \Documents\Quicken folder.Having done that start Quicken as usual from the Start Menu or Desktop Quicken icon.
If Quicken cannot find your current data file during startup it should just simply load the program and give you either a nearly blank menu screen or one that has options to start as new user, restore from backup, etc.- If you get to this point without Quicken crashing
- click on File in the Menu bar. Select the Validate function. Select the renamed Quicken data file and see if Quicken can access and repair it.
- If the data file is beyond
repair, try to restore your data file from the most recent Manual or
Automatic backup. Go back to restoring successively older backups until
you find a file that works

- If you can't get Quicken to start at all,
- uninstall Quicken using this
procedure:

Have you tried starting Quicken by holding down the Ctrl key while double clicking the Quicken icon? You need to hold the key until Quicken fully starts. Your data file will not be loaded.Quicken Subscription HBRP - Windows 100
