How do I rename a qdata backup file?
Keith Brewer
I restored a backup file and want to change the backup file name to QDATA. Can I rename the existing QDATA file and then change the backup file name to QDATA without messing up Quicken?

Yes, you can rename/change the existing QDATA to
something like
QDATA_OLD and then simply rename the restored backup to QDATA. Finally, open the newly restored/renamed file to ensure Quicken opens that one going forward.. This is how I approach it.

forgot to mention that you need to do this with Quicken closed. Use Windows File Explorer or any other file management tool to locate the file and perform the rename operation.
You did remember to use the correct destination folder for the restored data file, didn't you? Usually that is \Documents\Quicken on your C:-drive.
When done renaming or moving, double-click the renamed file. This will open Quicken and make it use the file. It will also remember (in the File Menu at the bottom) the renamed file, for easy recall.
