Corrupted data file when iMac crashed and no data when re-opened, How can I get old data file

How do you know the data is corrupted? Are you getting errors?

Or, is this simply a matter of Quicken not knowing what file to ope upon restart? If it can't find the existing file, it will present the new file creation dialog.
