Quicken will not ask me for my account password and is stuck in a "loop" with a window that says it is opening my file. Please help!

- Restart your Mac
- Hold Down the shift key and launch Quicken. Click Cancel to bypass opening any currently opened file
- Will Quicken run? Can you use the Start as Scratch option to create a new blank file? If no, then reinstall the Quicken application and try again.
- If Yes, then use File:Open Recent to choose your older file. If Quicken hangs, there is something odd about your file (or where it is stored.) This may or may not be related to Quicken, and even could be related to your MacOS setup.

First off, I would try to open one of your most recent Quicken backup files.
Make a copy of that backup. Then rename the copy to mytest.qdf. Double click on that file and see if that opens.
If it does, you can rename the data file to anything you'd like.0 -
What is the path to the folder that contains your Quicken data file? Do you have Controlled Folder Access enabled in Windows Defender? Are you using OneDrive, Dropbox or Google Backup?

Tried Chitown's suggestion and even when I tried to open the renamed backup file, quicken got caught in the loop and said it was trying to open the old file name.0
