How do you get Quicken to rollover your category balances from one year to the next?
Nina@
I use rollover balances and would like Quicken to rollover the balances at the end of 2019 to January 2020 but can't seem to find a way to do that without writing them all down and manually changing the balances in the new year.

In QW, I am able to rollover balances year to year.
Could this question/answer have been intended for QM version?
So...I got curious... if there was a recent, undocumented QW change in the rollover behavior. I know, in the past, "rollover year to year" caused some confusion for users who did not want to rollover. Idea on rollover options
here
.
I tested this in my "budget test file" in QW HBR, latest rev. I was able to see a rollover of balance from 2019 to 2020. Here's how.
Reset Windows date to 12/31/2019
Create a new 2019 budget, turn rollover on for one newly created / funded category and validate balance in December 2019.
Image 1.
Create new 2020 budget using Annual View > Arrow Right and select a option to populate categories and amounts for your new 2020 budget.
Change Windows system date to 01/01/2020
Observe rollover year to year.
Image 2.
Also, If you created a new 2020 budget
after
01/01/2020, then QW should recognize that you had built a 2019 budget and offer to create a 2020 budget. I tested this scenario and balances also rolled over.
@Nina@
Perhaps this problem for you is water under the bridge at this point....Could you describe how you were creating your new budget? What option did you use to populate the new budget? What rollover option did you select in 2019? What QW version are you using?

I can confirm this behavior. I created a 2020 budget after the new year from my 2019 budget and all my categories with rollovers did rollover the 2019 amounts. I found this very annoying as I wanted to start 2020 fresh. Quicken premier 2020 R24.11

Here's an idea thread you can review and vote on - to at least have an option to either 1. rollover the balance year to year or 2. NOT rollover the balance year to year.
