Different folks might have different suggestions - even the Quicken Help -I personally like to have all my data, going back as far as it goes... delete nothing -The size of the QDF file does not impact the performance of Quicken.You should already be creating the auto-backups
as per the normal Quicken Preferences --> Backup.In addition, you should be performing periodic manual backups from Quicken,
as per the Quicken --> File --> Backup0
