Place Holder Entry

Good morning. I'm attempting to "clean up" Place Holder entries in a non-qualified mutual fund account. I have found that I can enter an "Estimate Average Cost" for a single transaction (from July 2008.) I'm pretty confident that the price per mutual fund share is pretty close if not exact. Before I execute I'd like to ask what's the downside, if any? In plain English, am I going to mess up anything in terms of my share balance and/or account balance?

As long as your share balance is correct (and doesn't change as he result of this transaction) there should be no affect on your share balance or account value balance going forward, as a result of making/accepting a transaction that corrects your cost basis. The only downside is that the cost of the mutual fund investment may not be factually accurate, which could affect the gain or loss when you sell the investment.Quicken Home, Business & Rental Property - Windows 10-Home Version
