Every time my broker makes a trade in my 529, I get a new account. How can I stop this and have the transactions show up under one account?

American Funds (as best I recall) downloads as a one-fund to one-account process. So if your broker is buying a new and different fund each time, you'll get a new account each time.
Your other options are a) manual entries into a single account or b) after getting the downloads, move the transactions to a composite (manual) account. [I have never tried option b so I can't comment on other issues that might arise. There could be several.]5
