Have many years info in financial accounts. How do I delete past years

You can perform a year-end copy of your data files and select the years you want to keep in your current data file. I only keep the previous year's data each time I perform an annual year-end copy and usually perform this action after I have reconciled the January banking statement. Other users may keep several years of data however you can determine how many years you want to keep when you perform the year-end copy. Quicken also allows you to archive past years' data, and you can select an "up to" date depending on how many past years data you want to archive.. This link gives you specific detail.

The question is .... WHY -Reducing the number of entries has no effect on Quicken performance.
Also, the only entries deleted would be NON- investment and NON-transfer transactions.0
