Installing and Updating (Windows)
Converting 2014 to Home & Business | Windows
GPartney
I have Quicken 2014. I bought Home & Business | Windows. If I try to install the new CD it says it will uninstall old Quicken. (Only one Quicken is allowed). Will I loose all my data or will it convert the data in the new Quicken?

Hi
@GPartney
,
See this procedure:
https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7844658/installing-reinstalling-windows-quicken-subscription-editions
Once you use the CD, and then activate it, that CD will convert to a coaster for Soft Drinks. It cannot be used reuse to install Quicken.
Remember to do Manual Backups of your Quicken Data File, weekly and before major changes.

The installation process should not delete the data files but you should save backups (press
Ctrl + B
). When you open the old data files with the newer Quicken, the data files should be converted to newer format.

Your data is not saved in the program files. Your data is in a separate file ending in .qdf. Which should be in your Documents then in a Quicken folder.
