How do I restore the running balance column

You may have the register sorted by something other than date. Or filtered. You can't get a running balance unless it's sorted by date. Click the DATE column heading to sort by date. Also click on "Reset Filters" at the top of the register-some filters prevent the balance from showing.Also make sure you are in 1 specific account and not the combined register.
I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

I am running the quicken starter for Mac- Catalina. After checking all of the above, my columns options still did not include the "Balance option". I had all the specified info on my tabs such as date, transactions, specific bank account and cleared the filters, etc.
Note:
There is another adjustment to get the running balance back. Hit the $ on the left column and choose your current bank account. The running balance came back for me.0
