This is a Morgan Stanley Issue.
The Morgan Stanley technical team is aware of the issue and either does not view it as important or lacks the technical ability to fix the issue. I have tried several times to get them to fix it. Any fund ending in XX, aka, a money market fund will not be reported to Quicken as a holding. Morgan Stanley does not include XX funds in the holdings section of the OFX file sent to Quicken.
They do report individual transactions of MMFs to Quicken. The workaround is to turn off the holdings comparison for Morgan Stanley accounts that have MMFs.5
