You could either edit all future occurrences and include the splits there. Or you could mark the transaction as paid and then enter the splits.
But... if I'm understanding what you are doing... you should really, really, really NOT be handling your credit card this way. Are you making one huge split transaction in your checking account that breaks out all the individual purchases made on the Discover Card?
If so, please stop doing it that way. You should instead create a credit card account for the Discover card. Then record (or download) each real world Discover transaction there. That will build up a negative balance in that account. It will let you record much more info, especially the Payee for each transaction. And it will make searching and reporting much much more flexible. It will allow you to be able to reconcile the Discover card if you like.
Then, when it's time to pay the card bill, you record it as a simple (no splits) Transfer transaction from checking account to Discover card account. That transaction will simultaneously reduce your positive checking balance and reduce the negative balance on the Discover card.

You can enter any transaction with a date in the future, including a split transaction. The same applies to a scheduled transaction. If you are creating a new scheduled transaction, click the Split button in the Transaction Details setup screen. I'm not sure if that answers your question?Quicken Mac Subscription; Quicken Mac user since the early 90s0

Hey, thanks, would never have thought of creating a separate account for credit cards.1

We hear lots of stories of people doing it the "split way" for years and when they finally switch over to a separate account, they wonder why they didn't do it a long time before.Quicken Mac Subscription; Quicken Mac user since the early 90s0
