Venmo stopped working

I've been linked to my venmo account for a while with no problem. A couple of days ago I got an error message during update:
ACCOUNT_MISMATCH:ccscrape.106:Account not found. No accounts returned - case 106.
There is a "Fix It" button which I pressed and which takes me to the account set up dialogue.
When I try to set up the account again I get this error after entering my username and password:
There's a "Try Again" button which returns the same error.
I get email from Venmo every time I attempt to set things up about a sign in attempt from a new device.
Something similar to this happened a couple of weeks ago, but then re-linking the account worked.
