When I linked my brokerage account, quicken keeps recommending adding the same exact stocks to my portfolio. It has doubled everything. How do I get it to recognize that it is doubling all my positions with these recommendations to add?

It sounds like placeholders keeps getting added. (Think of them as balance adjustments from what the brokerage firm reports.)

If you delete them, and they comes back, then it sounds like a mismatch between securities as you have them reported in Quicken, and how your brokerage is reporting them.

You will have to investigate the difference, and make a backup before you attempt any changes. It might be something as simple as merging the two securities in the Security list.

Yes, I did the merging and that helped fix the issue.  Then I had to delete the placeholders that were hidden at the very start of the file. 2001 file, so deeply hidden.  All is well!
