Downloading from E*TRade adding shares of stock

Recently when downloading transactions from E*Trade it is adding back old transactions back in and doubling the number of stocks with dates like 2/10/2008 for a stock purchased 5/12/2008. It shows in the register as Unknown Security PG, for PG (Proctor & Gamble)
This is happening across several accounts and is very aggravating as it results in inaccurate totals. If you delete the transaction it puts it back in. If you put in a remove stock transaction, it just doubles the number. (ie: if you take out the 100 it just changes it to 200 added in)

I suspect what you are seeing are Placeholder transactions getting added in at the very beginning of your register. These are adjustment transactions (shown in light gray as your earliest transx) to "adjust" to what your financial institution is reporting.
Quicken is likely working correctly, but it is some odd issue in the way eTrade is now reporting things. You will have to go into both the transaction view and Portfolio view to see what is going on.
My hunch is that PG is now being reported as a different security for whatever reason from eTrade. Hence, Quicken show the shares from both your existing transactions, and what eTrade is now reporting.
This might be as simple as merging those two different securities in the Windows:Security view. Make backups before you attempt any changes. But, I think you have placeholders causing your hardships.
