What is the precise relationship and dependency order for Security ID, Name, Symbol
My Qucken files cumulatively contain exactly 452 distinct Security Names and 452 distinct Security ID's, but only 223 distinct Ticker symbols. I see QIF export records for the same Security which contain different symbols. For instance, there are 304 transactions with the name Coca Cola Co and Security ID of 1, but there are differing symbols such as COKE, KO, and ko within these records.
If I recall, exported price history contains the ticker only.
Can anyone explain the precise relationship and dependency of these three items of data, something akin to a database relationship diagram?
Also, what are the ramifications of altering any of these in the Security list? Obviously I would need to make the identical modification within all of my unique .QDF files. But are there any other considerations for attempting to 'standardize' my historical data?
How will this affect transaction history and/or price history? Will these be correctly updated?
