Invalid certificate for USAA downloads

A week ago I could download USAA credit card transactions. Today I received a message: "The certificate for this sever is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "service2.USAA.com" which could put your confidentiality information at risk. How do I resave this? Thanks!

    Hello @jamiekdavidson

Thank you for reaching out on the community and telling us about your issue. I do apologize for the issue you're having. It sounds like we may need to validate the the connection again by deactivating/reactivating it. I'll leave steps on how to do so down below.

First thing I'll recommend is to save a backup to revert back to just in case. You can find how to do so down below.

    https://www.quicken.com/support/how-backup-or-restore-your-quicken-data

Next we'll try deactivating all of the accounts. You can do so by following the article listed down below.

    https://www.quicken.com/support/deactivate-online-banking-services-quicken-account

Once all the accounts are deactivated go ahead and follow the article here on reconnecting the accounts.

    https://www.quicken.com/support/reactivating-deactivated-account

Once you've tried this let us know if you're able to get the accounts back up. If not we'll see what can try next.

    Thanks,

    Quicken Francisco

  • I tell you what I did. I added the connection again but direct instead of quicken direct. I downloaded transactions but seems less secure in comparison to be for... previously I was required enter a code sent to me cell—no longer. Thanks for your reply
  • Francisco reading through your suggestions...., before what I ultimately did,I had deactivated and reactivated. It created another credit card account with duplicated transactions. I deleted it thinking that was not the answer. Sounds like it was. Not sure why what I did actually “worked”

    @jamiekdavidson

I'm glad to hear that you got it backup and running with direct connect. Direct connect is a method where instead of going through quicken servers to retrieve information from the bank you instead go directly through the banks servers. There's a bit more than that and I'll leave an article down below if you'd like to know more.

If you do run into any more issues please let us know and we'll see what we can do!

    Thanks,

    Hello Quicken Francisco,

After installing new Mac OS (Big Sur) my USAA credit card accounts are not downloading. All my other financial institutions are downloading correctly.

Can you provide with some insight on the following:

USAA requires two factor authorization. Does this mean I must use Quicken Connect (not Direct Connect) to download transactions? Is this correct?

Is there anyway to confirm my USAA credit card accounts are working without having to wait for a new transaction to download? Is there a report or functionality to test credit cards are properly setup in Quicken?

When I got o Windows/Account Status/ and then try to update the USAA credit cards nothing happens. When I update all the other financial institutions the last update comes back with the current time which leads me to believe this is working, but not for USAA credit cards.

I just need to download USAA credit card transactions and I want to avoid having to setup a new quicken file.

    Any guidance would be appreciated!
  • My issue happened before installing Big Sur by the way

Update - I believe the fix to the problem of USAA transactions NOT reloading is to deactivate and reactivate the account noted above by Quicken Francisco.

    First thing I'll
recommend is to save a backup to revert back to just in case. You can find how
    to do so down below.

    https://www.quicken.com/support/how-backup-or-restore-your-quicken-data

    Next we'll try
deactivating all of the accounts. You can do so by following the article listed
    down below.

    Once all the accounts are
deactivated go ahead and follow the article here on reconnecting the accounts.

    Hope this helps!
  • Previously I switched the account to Direct Connect and the downloads started though i was asked to enter a random code. Then I updated to Big Sur and now all is well! Downloads are working properly. Thanks
