Add - Shares Added returns error message

Received a gift of shares of AT&T (5.584053 shares). Add - Shares Added returns error message: "The resulting value is too big. Please enter it as more than one transaction."
I have tried entering this as 1 share. I have tried entering this as a Buy: 1 share @ $1. I get the same error message.

That shouldn't be happening and suggests to me some underlying problem in the file itself.
Do a File > File Operations > Copy..
Then using the copied file do File > File Operations > Validate & Repair...
See if that fixes things.
