Password for Data File No Longer Works?!
Bryan1968
I've used the same password on my local data file on my locally installed Quicken Program. Tried restoring several backup files and same issue. I know the password being typed is correct. When I click forgot password, it asks me detail questions from 16 year old transactions on accounts closed long ago. No way to look up a specific charge from 16 years ago. Been on with tech support over an hour. They had me upload the data file for them to try to remove password. Seems odd. Anyone else with this issue? How did you resolve?

Hello
@Bryan1968
,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community to tell us about your issue, though I apologize that you are experiencing this.
If the data file password is not being accepted and standard troubleshooting has failed to resolve it (
restoring backup,
forgot password, etc
), then our support agents do proceed by collecting your data file to have our escalation team go in and remove the password from the data file (
also known as
Quicken
Assisted Password Removal
Service
) and have it sent back to you once the data file password has been removed.

Thanks. Yes, was very nervous to send all my financials in this day and age so I feel better about that process now.
