Are you possibly clicking on the downloaded installation program rather than the installed program?  Try starting Quicken from the entry in the Start menu rather than clicking on an icon on the Desktop.

-splasher using Q continuously since 1996
    - Subscription Quicken - Win11 and QW2013 - Win11

To prevent this mistake in the future, how about moving the Q installation file from your Desktop to the Downloads (or Downloaded Files) folder.
You may also want to store a copy of the installation file on CD or a USB stick, in case you ever need to reinstall Quicken, e.g., after your C: drive has failed and had to be rebuilt.
Of course, Quicken Subscription users with an active subscription can always re-download from the Quicken website.
