Why does Quicken only memorize ONE payee when writing checks?

I write 4 checks a month by hand. When I wanted quicken to memorize the payee it assigns that payee to any check written. Am I doing something wrong?

You may need to just keep adding another letter. For example:
If I type in the letter "D", the first payee to appear is Discover Card
When I add the letter "O", the payee changes to Dominion Energy
When I add the letter "V" then the payee changes to Dovenmuehle Mortgage which is the payee I want to enter

Are you accepting the first payee that appears when you enter a letter?

I am selecting the name and amount (two are the same each month) separately and clicking memorize.
The next month both are memorized as only one. If I write another check for something and it is of the larger amount it chooses the larger payee.
I thought this function was for automatic population of the register. Am I wrong?
