Can I make a report on spending on the tag field?

    Yes.

    Try Reports > Spending > Itemized Tags
    or Reports > Spending > Itemized Categories and Sort by tags
    or Reports > Banking > Cash Flow by Tag

    You can also customize most reports to include only transactions that match selected tags.

    Starter Edition does not support tags in reports.
