switching between both sides of a transaction

Once upon a time we were able to use keystrokes to switch between the Dr & Cr sides of a transaction entry - IE; Debit = groceries credit= cash ... even when each side of the transaction was in separate registers. Is there a current way to do this - when trying to locate the other side.

But you are talking about 2 different things.  Your example of Grocery/Cash is a single transaction and doesn't really have sides.  You enter a transaction into the CASH account register and enter Grocery as the category.  You can't go to a Grocery category.  It doesn't have a "register" unless you set up Grocery as an actual Account.  To see the Grocery category you have to run a category report.

Now for transactions that are in two separate registers that would be a Transfer where you enter the other Account instead of a category.  Like a transfer from Savings to Checking.  Then there is a keyboard shortcut to jump to the other side.  Like Ctrl x?

Quicken predates the standard CTRL-X,C,V command characters. In Quicken Standard (old) mode, CTRL-X switches sides of a transfer.

For many years, there was no equivalent keyboard command when in Windows Standard mode. Now there is. Unfortunately, it is CTRL-SHIFT-X, a 3-finger salute.

Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, now using QWin Biz & Personal Subscription (US) on Win10 Pro.
