Stuck on New Dashboard View in Quicken Starter [edited]

With update 35.23 my classic Home page had been replaced with completely useless information. I found a gear icon than appears to allow activation of the 'Classic dashboard', but it has NO effect.

BRING BACK the Home page that shows pending bills, THAT is useful. *shakes head*

    Hello @InfoSeeker & @Chuck McCarter

Thank you for reporting this behavior to the community, although I apologize for any frustration or inconvenience experienced.

The "classic view" option should return the Home view to the original view, however, it appears that this may not be functioning correctly in the Starter versions of Quicken.

I have submitted this issue to our teams for further investigation and will be back to share any updates and/or resolution once one is available.

    Thank you again,

    Sarah

Nothing has been replaced on your home page, the update inserted a new tab. Your original start on tab can be changed back.

The preferences setting controls the start tab.

I agree the gear icon to change back is non-functioning.

@InfoSeeker Something is very strange with your setup.  Maybe you need to apply the Mondo patch from this announcement.

Looking at your screenshot/options I see that you only have Home, you should have Dashboard and Main View or whatever name(s) you customized.

Are you using the Starter edition? (This might be a new limitation of that edition).

I would try also restoring from a backup.  And also a new data file.

All of this to trying find out why your old view went away.

Here is a brand new file for me:

Main View is the old Home view system.
And there is a difference between Classic and not.
If I'm on the Dashboard the only option is to switch in and out of Classic mode.
And here is what it looks like in "non Classic" mode.

Note that this new data file started in Classic mode with Main View already created.
Switching back to Classic and selecting Main View I get:

There is a bug right there that clicking on the gear icon the menu doesn't popup in the right place.

BTW for what it is worth I believe what is happening is that they have run into limitations or want a "more modern GUI library" for the Home tab widgets.  And as such this is just the start of replacing the old Home tab/view/widget system.

Now that I know that Starter edition is involved in this problem it sort of make sense.

One of the restrictions on the Stater edition is that you can't customized the Home tab.  So the Starter edition is definitely going to be blocking some of the code that Deluxe and above are using for customizing the Home tab.

I simply want to keep what I had, not asking for extras.
Starter is all I need, I am 71 and my financials are a bit limited.

No one is saying anything different.  It has been reported as a bug by @Quicken Sarah and hopefully will be fixed in a future release.

In the meantime I think one could install the R34.24 Mondo patch from here to get back to a release before this happened:

Is it still displaying the Dashboard or is it back to the old display, but not as you customized it?
If it is back to the old display, but not customized then they must have changed something in the data file as part of this process and you will either have to customize it again or restore from a backup.

The only change was the update.

I purchased Quicken Deluxe 3.0 in 1994 (looked that up in Quicken). Over time my financial complexity increased and then, recently, decreased. So when the subscription model started, I downgraded to the Starter version.

Perhaps the view I had constructed with the Deluxe version remained through the switch, and Quicken has just now gotten to the point where they are checking. I really do not know, I do know I am not pleased, but with all that is being done to the world at this time, this issue is minor.

I want to thank all who replied to my post and tried to help, it is refreshing.

Just so people know, I just got an update (which is in staged release mode) that has one fix in it, to fix setting the Classic Home tab/Dashboard in the Starter edition of Quicken.  So the fix is rolling out.

I have the same problems and am using the Deluxe version. Changing the startu preference does not seem to have any effect on the screen display, and even it it did, only "dashobard" shows on the home tab so I would have to restart anytime I want to see that page?

You are the first I have seen that say it is a problem in Deluxe too.  I have Premier so I can't check out if it is a Deluxe vs Premier problem, but I doubt it.  The Starter version has always had a non customizable Home tab, and as such it isn't surprising that they didn't count on how it might behave with these changes.  But Deluxe and above have the same Home tab processing so it should have had the same problem.

I would first check that you have selected the gear icon in the upper right of the Dashboard and made sure that Classic Dashboard is on.

Next if that doesn't get it and you aren't yet at R35.31 I suggest you update to it, using the Mondo patch install from here:
