Stock Spin off

I have a stock that split into two companies - I have the same about for the original stock, but now I have 1 share of new company stock for every 5 shares of the old stock. I attempted to do a Corporate Security Spin off, and it started to create a transaction for every transaction in the register. (18 years worth). Any thoughts on how I can do this with one transaction?
