Too many problems to list

I used quicken many years ago, and decided yesterday that it’s time to give it another go. I purchased the deluxe subscription and downloaded for OSX. I spent 2-3 hours adding accounts and waiting for transactions to download. Unfortunately, Quicken simply hasn’t worked. For example:
- USAA only recognizes checking account, not savings
- Fidelity authenticates, but shows 0 balance and no transactions
- Vanguard authenticates, but shows 0 balance and no transactions
- TSP authenticates, but shows 0 balance and no transactions
There are other problems too with accounts unable to be added at all (unsupported institutions, I think).
So what’s up with Quicken? Am I just unlucky that so few of my account synchronize correctly? I searched the help forums and learned that I’m not alone. There are multiple support tickets for each of the institutions I listed above.
Is there some basic principle I’m missing on how to correctly add and update accounts?
