Why is a memo column not showing in my bank register and how do I add it?

Under setting the box to show a memo before the category is checked but there is no memo column in my register.

    Your profile shows you're running Quicken Windows, not Mac.

    Over on the right end of the register header, right above the scroll bar, there's a "Register Columns" button. Click that & it'll show you a list of the columns that can be displayed in the register. Check the box next to "Memo", and that column should appear.

    The "Show memo before category" setting only determines where the memo column is displayed; if unchecked, memo is displayed to the right of category instead of the left.
