Reconcile Windows for any account will close while trying to clear transactions

Every time I open a Reconcile Window and begin to clear transactions, it will close when I click on the transaction. It does not matter WHERE I click on it. Sometimes it will do it once, I open it back up and it will be ok for the next couple of transactions then it will do it again over and over. It is frustrating. I have tried using a Pop out Registry, this does not work. I have restarted the program, THAT doesn't work. I have restarted my computer, nothing is working. I can't get my checking account balanced!!! I have been having this issue for months. I have the latest updates.

  • @Kim Templin  have you tried any of the troubleshooting steps in this Quicken Support article?

    https://www.quicken.com/support/advanced-data-file-troubleshooting-correct-problems-quicken-windows

This is a good place to start but if those suggestions don't fix the issue, then you might try uninstalling and reinstalling Quicken.

    Hello @Kim Templin

I am sorry to hear about this frustration with the Reconcile window. Thank you for reaching out about this here on the Quicken Community.

First, have you noticed this issue with one particular account, or accounts associated with one particular financial institution? If so, which ones?

Also, where is your current active data file located? You can check this anytime by navigating to File > Show this file on my computer in the upper menu at the top of the screen. Make sure that the data file is located on your computer and not on an external drive or cloud-based storage service, as these latter locations can cause erratic program behavior or data damage.

I look forward to your response.

    Thank you,

    Quicken Jared

Question: Does the Reconcile window totally close or does it minimize (disappear into the background), with a "Reconcile" tab remaining at the bottom of the Quicken window, returning you to the register view?
I've had the Reconcile window minimize when I accidentally double-clicked a transaction, as if I wanted to edit it in the register. To return to Reconcile there's a "Return to Reconcile" button in the register view.
