Error code 1638 on installation

was using quicken with no problems last night. this morning it was hanging. rebooted and couldn't get it going again. i decided to uninstall and re-install the app to see if there was any corruption. when i tried to reinstall i get the error code Quicken Failed to Install - Exit Code 1638. Any idea on what could be causing this?

    I am sorry to hear about this issue with Exit Code 1638. Thank you for inquiring about this issue here on the Quicken Community.

    First, do you where the Quicken folder was located? Also, just so I am clear: have you tried removing Quicken from the Program Files (x86) after uninstalling the program using these steps? You can then reinstall the program using the steps listed here.

    The Quicken folder was located under Program Files (x86) as you indicated above. It has been removed. After the application is downloaded the error occurs shortly after it tries to remove the application which is no longer there.

    Given the nature of this issue, I recommend reaching out to Quicken Support using the information provided in this link. They have additional resources and techniques available to enable them to perform more detailed troubleshooting.
