how to enter payments to credit cards from chequing account

I've been trying to get an accurate view of my expenses and income. I need to know the correct way to enter the credit card payments from my chequing account. Do I use square brackets with the chequing account number? Or is it the credit card name in square brackets? I have looked at the help information but am unable to find a clear answer.

In the category field, of the transaction in your chequing account place the name of the particular credit card in square brackets, e.g. [Visa]
