One step update has worked successfully for the past 2 years. Just recently the updates are adding transaction, that I cannot reconcile with my banks. Because of the way they are entered I cannot locate the erroneous data. This is occurring at all my financial institutions. It is so bad I am returning to manually entering everythings. SO SAD

Are you syncing to the Quicken Cloud? If so, I would suggest disabling the sync and then running an OSU.

Tried that and it did not work. Thank God for backups. Reloaded the data, exited quicken, rebooted it, verified that sync was turned off, ran OSU. Same problem. It is somehow picking up additional deposits or missing transaction. The deviation is the same every time, but the amount does not appear in any individual transaction and all transactions show reconciled.

Is it one account or multiple accounts. What financial institution? What type of connection?

What type of connection is Quicken using to download transactions from your CU? Direct Connect, EWC or web connect?

I don't believe this is a quicken problem. I just verified that the OSU if reading my data at my credit union and changing the opening balance that was entered 10 years ago. I reset the opening balance to what it should be, ran OSU and everything now seems to be OK. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the help.

I do think it is a quicken problem as I am also experiencing this with Chase when the OSU tries to migrate to the new update method. It brings the last 90 days transactions into the update window of my already linked accounts. But even worse, on my CC it changed the opening balance to some random number. I have tried over and over to open up a backed up copy and try again, unsuccessfully to reconcile any of my accounts now. I thought it was just supposed to be an update to the connection method. It is changing things in my register also at the same time.

Because of issues like this, I'v been backing up my data every time I have an accurate sync. I just started downloading data from Citibank and it is doing something similar. Balances are being changed and rectified transactions are being reentered. I am going to manually reconcile all my accounts until this is fixed by Quicken. I am thankful that I've developed the habit of backing up the data. I've actually started backing up with a time of day added to the file name.

Final comment. I just verified that OSU is changing the opening balance. I just verified this with two of my accounts. I recorded manually what the opening balance was then ran OSU. The update showed new transactions that needed to be reconciled. It took the total of those transactions added it to the opening balance and changed the opening balance to the new number and still showed it as reconciled. The opening balances were 7 years old and RECONCILED, BUT it still changed the number. I reentered the original opening balance and manually reconciled the new transactions and everything is now synching properly. I'll see what happens after I start adding new transactions in the near future.
