How do you remove the calculator function in the check register?

Every time I enter a transaction in the check register the "icon is in the amount field and it does not let me enter an amount unless I use the calculator function.

When you tab into the field or single-click select it, does it look like this, with the black "|" blinking next to the calendar icon?

In that case, just start typing your number. When done, tab to the next field.
If you do need to make a calculation you can do so even without clicking the calculator icon. For example, just type 5+3+15 and press Enter to store the result, then tab to the next field.

Do not double-click the field as this will open a mini calculator.
