M&T Bank Direct Connect password issues

Tried to use M&T bank direct connect to update my account the first time. This is an account that used to be a People's Bank account.
I set up the M&T account with minimal issues but then tried to update the account using the gear icon update now tab. I type the password in the update window box hit enter and Quicken then tells me to enter the password for the account in a separate box that pops up. This keeps happening over and over even though I have entered the password.
I tried saving the password in the password vault and after adding the password Quicken then gives me a message that says M&T bank cannot use the password I added.
Along time on a Quicken support call has not resolved this issue. Many temp files and deactivations etc were tried with no success. :( :(

OK here is an update. I got the problem solved by clues I found on the Quicken community site and with finally getting through to M&T bank.
The direct connect password cannot contain special characters. I had one in my M&T password. I changed that and now quicken can use direct connect to update the account.0
