Closing Investment account
blarson7
I recently changed investment brokers and have the new account setup in Quicken. I want to hide the previous account and close it. When I try this under display options, I get this message: "This account has securities balances, please clear the securities before you close the account".
I'm not sure how to do this. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Brian

You should do a Shares Transferred between Accounts to empty the old account and populate the new account. That way you basis and lot information moves to the new account and you have nothing in the old account. The old account can then be closed.

Thanks for the reply. I have already created the new account and connected to it online and downloaded all the information so it's up to date. Given this, can I just delete the old account. I don't think there's any reason for me to keep that since it's closed.
