Making stock entries acquired from a Trust
jjenney
When setting up a brokerage account with stock shares acquired from a Trust, I used "Added" to place the stocks into the account rather than "Bought" because none of my funds were used to purchase the shares. They were inherited. I entered the cost basis and date of purchase for which the shares were originally purchased by the Trust, but even after providing this information, Quicken still considered the entry a "placeholder". Why? Because Quicken made them a "placeholder", no dividends from these stocks are being added to the cash balance of the account. How do you eliminate the "placeholder" on these entries?

The placeholder indicates that a required piece of information is missing.

jjenney
Correct, but all information was provided in the transaction. Nothing is missing, yet it remains classified as a "placeholder".
