I can delete the current transaction in the register, but future pmts are already scheduled.

If you want to remove all future payments for that bill (for example, you canceled your subscription to Netflix) then go to the Bills & Income tab and delete the bill there. Click on the circle with 3 dots on the right side of the bill and select Delete Series.

If you just want to delete some future payments you can try modifying the schedule to match the payments you plan to make. Again, on the Bills & Income tab click on the circle with 3 dots for the bill & select Edit All Instances, then select the Schedule tab. Make sure you click on the little down arrow button just left of Starting: to see all the options.

If your future payment schedule is irregular you may still have to delete some payments by hand when they come up. Unfortunately, you cannot delete one individual scheduled transaction unless it is the next one on the schedule. For example if you have a monthly payment and you want to skip the one for December, you won't be able to delete it until after you make the October & November payments.
