After latest release update, R44.27, Quicken goes into an infinite loop after entering the password. The datafile grows rapidly until the program execution is killed. The program never opens.

    Hello @Kai Hansen

I am sorry to hear about this frustration with password loops. Thank you for asking about this here on the Quicken Community.

Have you tried restarting your computer after this happens? You may additionally try uninstalling the Quicken software using the steps listed in this Support Article, then deleting Quicken from the Program Files (x86) folder. You may then reinstall the software after following those steps using the steps listed here.

I look forward to hearing about your results.

    Thank you,

    Quicken Jared

This symptom can indicate you have a "runaway" reminder (scheduled transaction), meaning its date is set wrong and it is "firing" indefinitely. To quote super-user @mshiggins,
File size doubling and hung start up sounds like runaway reminders.

I would try setting your computer date back progressively until you find a date where the file does not hang on start up. Then you'll need to find the bad reminder, delete and recreate the reminder, and delete all of the transactions generated by the runaway reminder.
Close all other applications before doing this so they don't get confused by the purposely incorrect system date.

Thanks for your help. I found my problem was due to a "design feature" of Quicken. In Manages Bills and Income Reminders window the "Due next on" option allows you to set "How often" to daily and select the number of days. I selected 60 days because that is how often I wanted to be reminded. That was a mistake and should not be allowed to happen.
    Thank again

Setting a reminder to be due once every 60 days does not seem like it should cause an issue.  The day interval is a fairly new option, though, so I suppose it may not be as robust as other intervals that have been in place for years and years.
