Can't update Quicken - "MigrationTool.exe" because it is being used by another process. [edit]

I "upgraded" my Quicken to the subscription version recently (Quicken Deluxe Version R44.27 Build Version 27.1.44.27). Whenever it prompts me to update, I try and I always get the same error message: The process cannot access the file 'C:\ProgramData\Quicken\Inet\Common\patch\quickenPatch\w2027\base\RPMMigration\MigrationTool.exe' because it is being used by another process.

I tried chat and they told me to uninstall and reinstall the program because something didn't install correctly originally.

Did that and still getting the same error message when prompted to update.

Any insights?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to pause your anti-virus software before updating?

Thanks, Greg_the_Geek. It worked. Shame that I had to turn off virus protection to do it for a well established program like Quicken. Made sure to turn it back on once the update was complete!

The problem is with your anti-virus software, not Quicken.
