Black screen and update window flashing in infinite loop on download

Often when doing a one step update or hitting the Update button in Investing, I get into an endless loop of black screen and the update window flashing, and I have to kill Quicken. I thought it was related to using Remote Desktop, since I tried to close it and log onto the local computer, and it was able to get out of the loop. But the next time I tried that it didn't work and kept looping.

Hello @EvDob,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about your issue, though I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this.
If you haven't already, I suggest you try signing out of your data file completely and then signing back in to refresh the registration token for your Online Connected Services. However, I do recommend that you first save a backup file prior to performing these steps.- Navigate to Edit
- Preferences...
- Quicken ID & Cloud accounts
- Click Sign in as a different user (or it might say Sign in using a different Quicken ID)
- Follow the prompts to Sign Out
- Sign back in using your Quicken ID (email) and password
I hope this helps!-Quicken Anja

Thanks, Anja. I'd lost track of my previous post with the same issue, and it was suggested there to do a Validate & Repair. I'll try this if that doesn't work.0

I didn't have an endless loop, but had black and disappeared windows in updates and other operations. Signing out and them back in has greatly reduced, though not entirely eliminated, these, at least immediately after.0

I'm stuck in this exact same situation now; I've just done an update of one of my accounts; I can see that transactions were downloaded but I'm now stuck with the quicken app 'flashing' between one step update summary and the main account window, with a black screen thrown in there also. This happens fairly often. I'm on Windows 11, and have high-res monitor scaling turned on at 150% ("recommended").
I know Quicken really struggles with display scaling for whatever reason and suspect this display scaling may have a role.
I also think I'd been in the program quite a while and done many edits (lots of find/rename steps). I have a hunch that Quicken isn't good at memory management and the longer you are in the app/the more you do, the more likely this issue is likely to occur.1 -
I have the issue too, and I have the Quicken shortcut properties compatibility tab high DPI scaling override set to scaling performed by application. I don't have the Windows 11 custom scaling set.0
