Is there a way to exclude certain transactions from budget accumulation that are a tracked category?

I am trying to figure out how to avoid over-budget reporting due to pre-planned transactions that are paid from savings, not from monthly income.
Example: My monthly budget has an amount for home improvement. In addition to the normal monthly expenses for home improvement, I have a large home improvement project that is funded from savings. This transaction (payment for the project) throws me over budget for the home improvement category. I could update the budget to include this amount as planned but then the budget for the month would show expenses exceeding income by a large amount. Is my only option to use separate, un-tracked category for these types of expenses?
Thanks!

I believe I figured it out. I set up a sub-category under Home Improvement for large projects. The I updated the budget settings to only track "other" home improvement.0
